More Moore

Miramax hasn’t had enough of Michael Moore, so they’re signing up to finance and distribute his next film. Moore’s next documentary, entitled Sicko tackles the ailing American healthcare system. Initial plans to examine the Rwandan healthcare system were abandoned when Moore found out there isn’t one. Just a bunch of kids with flies on their eyes being devoured by Sally Struthers.

After the healthy stack of millions the Weinstein’s made on Fahrenheit it’s no surprise they’d be ready to tackle more of Moore’s controversial material, this time via Miramax. If people hate this one as much as the last one it’ll probably only make an even bigger stack for them. Whether this will further complicate Miramax’s tenuous relationship with ailing parent company Disney remains to be seen.

With Eisner on the way out of Disney, it might not be an issue. However if Disney gets jumpy the way they did over Fahrenheit 9/11, I’m sure the Weinstein’s will only be too happy to make other arrangements and keep all the profits for themselves.
