The cast of Arrested Development is still wandering around attempting to bait Hollywood into making a movie out of their cancelled television show. Isn’t that really what this is becoming at this point? I’m starting to think there is no movie, and that the cast just keeps hinting that there is in order to build buzz for the idea of a project and hopefully, somewhere down the road use that buzz into talking some studio into financing it.
We’ve had two Arrested Development cast members doing just that in the past couple of days. Jason Bateman was at it again while on the Oscar red carpet. He was of course, there in support of Juno, and while gushing over Ellen Page and Diablo Cody he hinted that the movie might be a possibility.
Tonight it was Will Arnett pimping the idea of a movie on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Because the question is now almost obligatory, Conan asked him if the movie was happening. Arnett responded by saying, “I don't know if there's an appetite for an Arrested Development movie.” Hint hint, he’s trying to prod fans into sending in letters or something. But then he went on to say “Yeah, we are currently in talks.” That would seem to indicate that someone is developing it, whether there’s an appetite for it or not.
At this point, it’s getting a little tedious listening to the cast hinting at the movie. If it’s going to happen, let’s get moving on it. If it’s not, shut up guys and move on to something else. You’ve all got nice careers going, who needs Arrested Development?

I agree with you, I'm much more interested in getting confirmed news, but why be so cynical? This could be THE comedy film of next year, o the back of a show which will not be bettered for many years yet. The fanbase has grown huge over the last three years - with AD consistantly in the top 60 on Amazon, so at the least a film will break-even, but again with the right marketing, this could be bigger than Superbad, Knocked Up, Juno.
So again, why be cynical? So many fingers are crossed that this will happen.
It doesn't seem like they're "wandering around attempting to bait" anyone. Aren't they simply replying to the many questions they're obviously receiving? The only way to avoid being "tedious" would be to start lying or refuse any questions on the subject. And that would be a shame since I, for one, am VERY interested in the truth behind the rumors. What better source is there to get to the bottom of it? Please stay on the story for us, it seems to have your attention as well.
ARE YOU INSANE? The world, civillization, the cosmos, me, you, your mom. That's who needs more Arrested Development. The purpose of existence was for humanity to evolve in precisely the right way to bring about the creation of Arrested Development and the success of the entire universe is directly correlated with the amount of Arrested Development content in existence.
