The Muppets Most Wanted Teaser: Tina Fey Tries On A Russian Accent, And Scooter Moves Like Jagger

Whether or not you're going to like The Muppets Most Wanted is decided in the first seconds of this new teaser trailer, which debuted at Disney's website. If Animal screaming "sequel!" makes you laugh, you are going to look forward to this movie. If not, well, what were you doing in your childhood, anyway?

A follow-up to 2011's successful franchise revival The Muppets, the sequel The Muppets Most Wanted (formerly The Muppets…Again! completely shuffles its human cast, doing away with Jason Segel and Amy Adams and instead bringing in Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell-- three small-screen stars pretty appropriate to pair up with TV veterans like The Muppets. The action heads over to Europe this time, with the career-revived Muppets on a sold out tour across the continent, in cities like Berlin, Madrid and London. Things get complicated, though, when a jewel thief known as Constantine gets mixed up with the Muppets thanks to his uncanny resemblance to Kermit. You can check out a new image of Constantine, in the middle of what looks like a Busby Berkeley dance number, below. How does he get all the other Muppets involved? Is he posing as Kermit at this point? Your guess is as good as mine.

Gervais plays Constantine's assistant Dominic, Fey is a Russian prison guard (hey, why not?) and Modern Family's Burrell slaps on a French accent to play Jean Pierre Napoleon, the Interpol agent trying to hunt Constantine down. This teaser doesn't reveal a whole lot of the plot beyond that basic plot synopsis-- I'm hoping Scooter singing "Moves Like Jagger" isn't' even part of the movie at all, personally-- but the plot isn't exactly what a Muppets movie is going to be sold on. With Oscar-winner Bret McKenzie back to write more original songs, The Muppets Most Wanted has the chance to bring more goofy, vaudeville-style entertainment back to the big screen-- and maybe without some of the growing pains that the other recent movie went through on its way to putting the Muppets back in the spotlight.
