Muse Of The Titans![]()
Am I the only one who was not impressed by the rip-roarin', hard rockin' music in the Clash of the Titans trailers? This movie is about Gods and battles; there needs to be roughly 400 woodwinds and even more brass instruments to capture even half the epicness this movie possesses. But nope, just some rock and roll. Watch THIS trailer and skip to about 1:48 and scope of the awesomely epic Kraken theme. That's what the music for Clash of the Titans should sound like.
But it looks like it may not wind up sounding like that at all. Uber-popular rock group Muse has been offered the film as their first scoring gig. According to the article over at NME, the band has been toying with the idea of diving into some film work, but Clash is the first really interesting offer they've gotten. The only hang up for them is their more than rigorous touring schedule. Muse's diversity in song writing doesn't scream, “OMG this soundtrack is going to be terrible,” because they've put out such a wide variety of music that it wouldn't be surprising for them to create a straight-up orchestral powerhouse. But the other option is they write the same stuff they usually write and just slap in onto the film. Frontman Matt Bellamy has said before that if they were to do this it would be totally different from the Muse we're used to, so here's hoping that if they sign on they'll bring a new edge to the score, and not just standard rocky garbage like we hear in Transformers. I have faith in Muse's immense talent, but I'll be skeptical until I hear some tests. |
