My Chemical Romance Sticks Up For Watchmen Ending![]()
I didn't care much when I heard that My Chemical Romance would be performing a cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row" over the end credits of Watchmen. Not being a particular big fan of the band, or a rabid Dylan defender either, I figured credits are credits. But now MCR frontman Gerard Way has talked to MTV again about his band's input on the movie, and it seems they'll be playing a bigger role than we expected.
"As far as the placement right now, it’s integral to the ending of the film. And that gave me goose bumps, and not because we did the song, but because it works that well I feel. I’ve seen the part that we’re integral to — we’re talking about the very end.” SPOILER WARNING, for those of you who missed all the online debate a while back about the movie's ending, different from the comic book. Way defended the new, squid-free ending that he's a part of, saying it was part of Snyder's vision and not any kowtowing to the studio. "I know [director] Zack [Snyder] has fought really hard to keep this a pure vision. And I think the change that people are mentioning doesn’t make it an impure thing.” He continued, "From what I’m hearing, the changes he’s made reels it into the actual characters, and actually, in some ways, makes more sense. ” Remember, I'm the one who figured we didn't need a giant squid anyway-- so this information pleases me just fine. But how about you guy? Can some rock star change your mind about the ending of possibly the biggest comic book movie of 2009? |
