Judd Apatow doesn’t have an Oscar or even a Golden Globe, heck I’m not even sure he’s taken home a People’s Choice Award, assuming that still exists. Do they still give out People’s Choice Awards? The point is, Judd hasn’t gotten many of those movie-making awards, even though he is a very fine movie-making type guy with a bevy of funny films.

That’s all about to change, though, as Apatow was recently named the winner of the most prestigious award in the movie firmament. That’s right, the NBC Universal Suzanne and Bob Wright Screenwriting Award from the Nantucket Film Festival, is now gracing Apatow’s award case. I know you are thinking, “who are Suzanne and Bob Wright” and “since when did Nantucket have a film festival?” I don’t have any answers, but I do know that those Nantucketians showed Judd some love.

The Nantucket Film Festival focuses more on screenwriting and story-telling, according to their website. They gave out a few other writing awards and an acting award to Meg Ryan. I guess they decided to wait until her career was effectively dead before acknowledging it. Variety lists the other winners.
