With the announcement that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix director David Yates will be back for the sixth film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, things are heating up on the yet to be shot next Harry Potter adventure. The first rumor out of the gate is that Aussie Naomi Watts might be involved.
The word comes from the boys over at Moviehole, where they’ve dug up a gossip piece from Laineygossip.com which drops a few hints. They say Naomi may show up for the role of Lucius Malfoy’s wife and Draco’s mother Narcissa Malfoy.
Though the character hasn’t made it into any of the movies yet, she is in the books, and takes on a larger role as they wear on. Apparently she may make it into the next film, and like all the Malfoy’s she’s not a nice person. Watts can pull off just about anything and she’s got the right hair color to be a Malfoy. One problem though, she’s not British. Well, at least that's what we all thought. Apparently now she’s claiming to be a Brit, for the purposes of getting a juicy part in a monster hit series of movies. She was born there and raised in Australia, but recently went on record claiming she’s more Brit than Aussie, prompting speculation that she’s positioning her nationality to slip into Harry’s uniquely UK world.

don't worry, watts has more roles to turn down than to go after, like the leading role in the birds which the producers wanted desperately to give it to her but she was and despite her not-committing, let alone this is a larger and much juicier role than harry potter's.

Bit more regal looking, a bit harsher...of course if they work on her with make up, the Malfoy family is very plastic looking....

Yeah she would play the part beautifully, im also excited because warner brothers hinted that they are working on recasting Draco Malfoy which should of been done after the third, i hear that english actor Alex Pettyfer has already been offerd the role but might turn it down if he gets the lead in the Mummy 3. I was wondering if anyone else has herd anything about this
I heard this rumour a few weeks ago though they did not mention who she would be playing. I came to the conclusion that it would be Narcissa as she is really the only 'new' female that can be brought in for Half-Blood Prince.
Like Lisa, I can't see her as Narcissa. Narcissa needs to be a lot taller and harder looking. Naomi looks too kindly to me and that is not Narcissa.

I don`t totally understand - with saying, they haven`t hired anyone other than UK actors. Chris Rankin (aka Percy Weasley) is from New Zealand so why not hire other actors that aren`t completely british soumding and/or looking.
As for Naomi, I think she`s too young for the role of Narcissa and too gentle. Someone like Nicole Kidman would be more suited, I think.
I dont think that Naomi is the best actor for Narcissa either... she needs to look more pushy and cold, and Naomi doesnt look that way at all! Maybe they could use Tilda Swinton (Snow Witch from Chronicles of Narnia) or someone who looks less friendly than Naomi..
No, I can't see her as Narcissa. But Rachel Weisz would be an excellent choice. I had heard that WB hinted about recasting the role of Draco. I thought Tom Felton signed on for the remainder of the series.
She looks way to nice! I cnat beleive she is in it! The new director and new writer had better not mess this one up and neither should she!GRRRRRRRRR ANGRY FAN!!!!!!!!!
i think she'll be a good Narcissa. Yes, Narcissa is suppose to look up tight and snobby in most of half blood prince...but remeber the beginning with her and Bellatrix, she's a concerned mother, regardless of being a death eater. Lets not forget also how she acted in Deathly Hallows ( don't want to say much for those who have yet to finish the book). namoi watts would be good imo.
I think Namoi would be good. She meats Narcissa's quality. She's tall, thin. I think she even has that "I'm better than you air". She's bueatiful, (aren't all the Malfoy's) blonde.
Well , I guess most of us thinks that Naomi Watt is kind due to her roles (The ring (1 and 2 ) and even in King Kong) in both film we saw Naomi Watt a kind nd cute woman..but that doesn't make her only acting the kind roles ..She can do Narcissa in a simple way..Guyz it's acting ! it got nothin to do about actor's personalities in real Life..and i bet Naomi will be actin the role in a brilliant way..Besides who said Narcissa is that evil?
Yeah i know she is a death eater and all but she cares about her son Draco, soo muchh!! and anyone who read Book 7 , will know that Naomi Watt will fit Narcissa Malfoy in an excellent way!
