Could Naomi Watts be on her way to becoming Hollywood's new scream queen? She had a hand in starting the Japanese horror craze with her creeped out performance in The Ring, her piercing terror squawk stole the show in King Kong, and now she's considering the lead role in yet another classic screaming remake.

According to TMZ, Naomi has been offered the lead in a pending remake of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. We assume that means she'd be playing the role made famous in 1963 by Tippi Hedron. Naomi would be a great fit, she's been the plucky yet breakable blonde before.

One problem though (aside from the fact that it's an unnecessary remake), the movie's being done by king of exploding things and Transformers director Michael Bay. He's producing it through his Platinum Dunes production company. Just for frame of reference, that's the same company that just released the clumsy Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel in theaters.
