Nathan Lane And Robert Emms Join Tarsem's Snow White Project![]()
I could really use a magic mirror on my wall to help sort through the assorted news items we receive regarding dueling Snow White projects set up at rival studios.
Tarsem Singh’s yet-to-be-titled but sure-to-be-beautiful take on Snow White has added Nathan Lane and Robert Emms to its cast, according to a press release Relativity Media. They assume supporting roles in an ensemble that already shines pretty bright thanks to the casting of Julia Roberts as the wicked queen, Lily Collins (The Blind Side) as the princess, and The Social Network standout Armie Hammer as the prince. Tarsem’s version reportedly is a more traditional reimagining of the classic fairy tale, with an evil queen battling an exiled princess for control of a fantasy kingdom. That sets it apart from the other in-production Snow White story, Snow White and the Huntsman, being developed with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and the recently cast Sam Claflin . Seriously, it’s easier differentiating Dopey from Doc than it is separating these developing pictures. Back to Tarsem’s take on the Snow White story. While it’s clear from past films like The Cell that Tarsem’s a visual whiz, I also have to commend him on his casting to date. Roberts is an inspired choice to play an evil queen. Collins provides the doe-eyed purity we expect from Snow. And while Lane’s a pleasant addition to any cast, I’m more intrigued by Emms, who is set to break out with roles in Roland Emmerich’s Anonymous and Steven Spielberg’s War Horse, both of which are due out later this year. |
