Need For Speed: Watch A Stoked Aaron Paul Talk About Being Hand-Picked By Steven Spielberg
Director Steven Spielberg has quite a bit of sway over in the offices of DreamWorks. Not only is he one of the greatest filmmakers to ever live, having directed brilliant films like Schindlerís List, Jurassic Park and Close Encounters of The Third Kind, but he also happens to be one of the co-founders of the movie studio. So when DreamWorks started developing a film based on the video game Need For Speed and Spielberg decided that he wanted Aaron Paul to star, guess who ended up starring in Need For Speed?
This was only of the topics explored when I got to sit down one-on-one with Paul earlier this month to talk about his latest starring role. Watching the interview above you will also learn about what it was that inspired him to become an actor in the first place and how makes the adjustment to movies after spending so many years on Breaking Bad.
In Need For Speed, Paul stars as Tobey Marshall, the owner of a small auto shop and a part time illegal street racer. After being goaded by his rival, Dino (Dominic Cooper), into a race that goes horribly wrong, Tobey is sent away to prison, but years later leaves it behind with vengeance in mind. Along with a female companion (Imogen Poots) and with the help of a few friends (Scott Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek), the protagonist takes off on a cross-country ride hoping to make it to California in time to be a part of an elite race set up by a mysterious millionaire known only as the Monarch (Michael Keaton).
Need For Speed arrives in theaters this Friday, and as a bonus you can watch the videos below and take a quick look back in time to see how far Aaron Paul has come.
