Neil Marshall Directing Burst 3D For Raimi![]()
I'm in the middle of a rewatch of Drag Me To Hell as I write this, and being reminded practically every minute of Sam Raimi's genius for blending horror and humor. Obviously Raimi isn't committing his directing career to bringing us more movies just like it-- he's got that pesky Spider-Man to worry about-- but if his career as a producer can do it, the world will be a better place.
That's my hope, at least, for what Raimi will do as a producer on Burst 3D, a horror movie to be directed by The Descent's Neil Marshall. Variety doesn't say specifically that it's a comedy, but I mean, read the plot description-- "Revolves around a group of stranded travelers who meet during a blizzard and get stalked by a malevolent force that makes people spontaneously combust." If you thought all the bodily fluids of Drag Me To Hell were gross, just wait until you see people exploding from the inside. Of course the thing will be in 3D, because every horror movie from My Bloody Valentine 3D to Joss Whedon's recently delayed Cabin in the Woods is taking advantage of the format. While I can only wish that Drag Me To Hell was in 3D as well-- the possessed goat, coming right at you!-- this sounds like the next best thing. |
