Forget a brain, some courage or a heart; Netflix is giving everyone The Wizard of Oz for free! In honor of the film’s 70th anniversary, Netflix will allow all users to stream the film free of charge for 24 hours beginning at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Saturday October 3rd.

If you have an unlimited plan you’ll be able to watch the movie in hi-definition on your TV using a Netflix-ready device like particular Blu-ray players, an Xbox or TiVo. I’m going to sound like an infomercial, but I don’t care – that’s not all! Netflix is hosting a free live concert at New York City’s Central Park on Tuesday September 29th. The line-up includes Jennifer Hudson, Julianne Hough and other artists who’ll perform contemporary versions of the songs from the film. The concert kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a showing of The Wizard of Oz on a giant inflatable screen at Rumsey Playfield.

Netflix is one of my most economical expenses, but who can pass up on something that’s free? It’s an added bonus that this promotion involves such an incredible film. Now only if they could get Israel Kamakawiwo’ole to sing his rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” at the concert.

Check out all of the details over at Netflix by clicking here.
