New Battle: Los Angeles Trailer Isn't As Effective As The First![]()
Last month, the first trailer for the alien-invasion action flick Battle: Los Angeles came online and I was counted among those impressed. Sporting some heavy drama, some seriously good-looking effects and a fascinating soundtrack choice, the whole thing just clicked beautifully. I wish I could say the same thing about the second trailer.
Hosted over at Apple, the short video gives us another look at the Jonathan Liebesman film that stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, and Michael Peņa. Set in the near future, the film blends elements from both war and sci-fi movies as a marine troop tries to hold off alien forces in the Southern California city. Check out the trailer below or in HD over at Apple. After you're done, read on for my thoughts and feelings. As I hinted above, I don't like this trailer nearly as much as the first one. Much to similar to the international trailer that was released the same day as the first one, it's simply too reliant on voice-over narration and lacks grace and subtlety. I will also say that I find it curious that none of the film's stars are seen, which is just bizarre. In the long scheme of things, we'll probably look back on these trailers as mere teasers when longer ones come out. Leave your own thoughts about the trailer in the comments section below and for more on Battle: Los Angeles head on over to our Blend Film Database. |
