A few scooper reviews have already filtered out on the internet, via the usual suspects and the word on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so far seems to be pretty good. The latest trailer, just released via the horrible streaming world of AOL Moviefone (at least they did Quicktime) seems only to confirm it.

Where Gene Wilder played Wonka as sort of a mystical, funny, maybe somewhat dangerous and mad fellow full of fun, Depp seems to be going more down the road of the completely maniacal. It’s not better than Wilder, but dammit I do love what I’m seeing. See for yourself, just don’t touch that squirrel’s nuts.
