Despicable Me has a new trailer and with it a plot that’s starting to make sense. Here it is: Imagine Dr. Evil replacing Vin Diessel in The Pacifier. That’s Despicable Me. Yep, it’s another entry in that never-ending and mostly unwanted genre of wacky babysitter movies. Vin Diesel did it, The Rock did it, Jackie Chan did it, and now Steve Carell is doing it as the voice of Gru. Don’t worry, since it’s animated it’s bound to be less awful than the live-action take on this worn out story. In fact this newest trailer is kind of funny, or at least seems like it might be funny, in all the moments when Gru is engaged in supervillainy without the plot’s obligatory cute kids.
