New I Am Number Four Trailer Has More Jet Ski Action image
It's only been two weeks since we last saw a trailer for D.J. Caruso's I Am Number Four. It's typically good form to wait at least a couple more weeks before sending out a new one, but Dreamworks has found the loophole of the "extended" trailer. "How extended," you may ask? Twelve seconds.

The studio has sent over the newest trailer for the film, and the biggest difference is mostly in the beginning, where we get to see Alex Pettyfer do some gnarly tricks on a jet ski. Everything else, though, is pretty much the same. In the movie, Pettyfer plays an alien on the run from evil forces that want to kill him. Three of his kind have already been murdered and he is next.

Check out the trailer below and stay tuned afterward for my reaction.

I get the sense that I would probably enjoy these trailers a lot more if it weren't for the extreme over-use of tropes. How many more times do I have to hear "I'm just waiting for my real life to begin" or watch people walk away from explosions in slow motion? This could be some nice sci-fi action fare but it's so bogged down in cliches that it becomes distracting. Hopefully the final cut of the film will manage to minimize them and the film will actually be enjoyable. For more on I Am Number Four, head on over to our Blend Film Database.
