New Legend Of The Guardians Trailer Is Mesmerizing![]()
You how you feel silly saying Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole? You get that same awkward feeling when you watch the trailers. Yes, the series of books Zack Snyder’s film is based on is geared towards young adults, but something about the material seems very childish. Dragons in How to Train Your Dragon? Okay. A talking alligator in The Princess and the Frog? I can handle that, but there’s just something about those owls. Perhaps I’m just hung up on the simple dialogue and cheesy intonation in the birds’ voices.
Anyway, in case you’re unfamiliar with this one, Legend of the Guardians is based on Kathryn Lasky’s fantasy books. The film focuses on Soren (Jim Sturgess), a young owl enthralled with the legend of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole, the fleet of elite warriors that took down the evil Pure Ones. Soren dreams of growing up to be a guardian himself, while his older brother, Kludd (Ryan Kwanten), sticks to more practical goals like learning to hunt and fly. When a mishap results in both Soren and Kludd falling from their tree, they must do whatever it takes to elude the Pure Ones, even if it means flying across the sea to find the Great Tree, the home of the Guardians. One thing this film clearly has going for it? Fantastic animation. The detail in the imagery is outstanding, particularly when it comes to the owls. This is also looking to be a film worthy of the third dimension. Even when watching this trailer on the computer it’s easy to see items pop and that’s something that will only be enhanced when actually viewed with the 3D specs. This brand new trailer from Yahoo! Movies, may give me that same uneasy feeling as the first, but that doesn’t mean I won't see the film when it hits theaters on September 24th. Oh, and that 30 Seconds To Mars song? Still awesome. |
