New Poster For Found Footage Horror Film Apollo 18
I'm not a huge fan of found footage films, but I'm happy to admit that the first theatrical trailer for Gonzalo López-Gallego's Apollo 18 sent a few chills down my spine. The subgenre works best when operating in spooky, isolated environments like the woods of The Blair Witch Project and the moon makes for an awesome setting. Throw in the surprising aspect ration change, the grainy quality of the film stock and some seriously high tension, and it may be a film that changes my mind about found footage movies. Keeping the positive feelings going today is the film's newest one-sheet.
Posted over at Moviefone, the design is simple, but quite effective. The quality of the image imitates the look of the film, the expression on the astronauts face is that of pure terror, and flipping the image provides a dutch angle effect that adds to the creepiness level. I can even appreciate the movie's tagline, which provides historical context and a sense of foreboding. Check out the poster below or full size over on Moviefone.
