The plot of the new movie Possession is creepy even without its supernatural elements. Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a woman whose brother and husband are in an accident. Her husband dies, but her brother survives claiming to be her husband in another body. Gellar’s character is ready to welcome him back to her life, except that she suspects something sinister is at work.
In a word: ewwwwww. Who wants to all of a sudden be married to their brother, even if he is actually your husband? Happily the time I spend contemplating this scenario is pretty worthless, since I’m not married and, uh, that’s not possible. That said it’s an interesting concept for a movie, and now that the movie has a poster we can spend even more time thinking about all the gross possibilities.
You can check out the smaller version below, or see the full-size version over at IGN. It’s interesting that Lee Pace gets an above-the-title credit along with Gellar, since her face is enormous and his is nowhere to be seen. Plus she’s an established talent, whereas no one knew his name before Pushing Daisies started. In any case, the poster does a nice job of summing up the creepiness of the movie, and reminding people that Gellar is in it, and, well, there are people out there who will see a movie just for her. Possession comes on out February 22.

Have you seen the preview? Lee Pace's character is clearly her creepy brother-in-law (aka her HUSBAND's brother). So the premise isn't as "gross" as you might think...more just creepy...since Lee Pace's character pre-accident is, well, creepy. And according to the preview, her husband doesn't die. He and his brother are in comas--only, the brother comes out of it, claiming to be SMG's character's husband. Anyway, the movie looks *insane* and the poster equally enthralling. Can't wait to see Lee playing anti-Ned!
