DreamWorks has released a new set of photos from Shrek Forever After and they do a pretty good job of embodying everything that’s wrong with this franchise. For instance, along with the images they’ve released a series of Shrek Forever After puzzle placemats, which look like they were stolen from a Captain D’s. And then there’s the images themselves… I realize that this new Shrek is supposed to take place in some sort of fantasy universe where Shrek never existed, but is that really a good excuse to send Fiona to Weight Watchers?

Fiona’s always been a hefty gal, and that’s been a key component of her character. In the first movie they used her to shove a “it doesn’t matter what you look like only who you are on the inside” lesson down our throats and that was good. She was the poster girl for positive body image. And now they’ve slimmed her down and made her look like the ogre version of Wonder Woman. Something about that just seems… wrong.
