The new Star Trek trailer is at last officially online, and in glorious high-res Quicktime to boot. For those of you who showed up to Quantum of Solace only to discover it wasn’t attached, here it is. Watch it in various high-res formats right here. It’s a great trailer. I’m not sure if it’s really Star Trek, but then I think that’s what Abrams is going for.

One question. Where is Leonard Nimoy? I thought he, not these young whippersnappers, was supposed to be the star of this thing. So far, he's MIA in all of the film's marketing materials. Watch the trailer in high-res over at Apple or watch it below:

Because I’m an obsessive Trekkie, I’ve gone through this thing frame by frame. It’s loaded with quick images which you just can’t see otherwise. I’ve taken screenshots of some of the most notable ones and dropped them in the image gallery at the bottom of this post.

A few observed oddities contained within:

• That’s not a robot. It looks like a human in a Starfleet security outfit. [image]
• Kirk as a child. [image]
• Spock as a child. [image]
• Winona Ryder as Spock’s mother, in bed looking ill, while his father Sarek bends over her. [image]
• New transporter effect looks like a hyper-active swarm of bees. [image]
• Enterprise warp effect is now more of a blur. [image]
• Adult Spock with Winona Ryder, his mother, looking frightened in the desert. Maybe she has a bigger role than some thought? [images]
• Pike in the Captain’s chair of Enterprise with Kirk behind him. In established Star Trek lore, this shouldn’t happen since Kirk wasn’t on the Enterprise when Pike was in command. [images]
• Uhura stripping. [image]
• Sulu swordfighting? [images]
• Some sort of slimey monster, imagine if Sarlacc climbed out of his pit. [image]
• Kirk attempting to give Spock a high-five. [image]
• Kirk in his underwear about to get his sex on. [image]
• USS Kelvin being destroyed? [image]
• Is that the rock monster from Galaxy Quest? [image]
• Blonde woman giving birth. Carol Marcus giving birth to David? [image]
