Newest Rumor Says Gordon-Levitt Won't Play The Holiday Killer In The Dark Knight Rises After All![]()
The thing about Batman rumors-- and this goes for every single story we've heard about the third film since The Dark Knight opens-- is that until you hear it confirmed by Christopher Nolan himself, you really can't trust anything. Nolan and his production team run a remarkably tight ship that makes it virtually impossible for correct spoilers to break out; even when someone claims to be hearing something from a source close to production, it's entirely possible they're operating off deliberate mis-information designed to keep us off the scent.
So when Variety reported yesterday they were hearing Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be playing Alberto Falcone, a.k.a. The Holiday Killer, in the film, they acknowledged they were operating off a source who wasn't exactly inside the Nolan brain trust. And in today's Entertainment Weekly report debunking that scoop, they're essentially saying the same thing: "a source close to the situation" said that the Holiday Killer news was "incorrect." So we're back to square one, doing a lot of speculation based on no actual fact from the people closest to Nolan. In some ways it's maddening that we know practically as little about The Dark Knight Rises as we did in July 2008. In other ways, it's kind of nice to know that there will still be some surprises. I'm honestly not sure which source to believe, and in some ways thinking that the Holiday Killer still makes sense as a villain for the movie. But I'll accept your advice, as always, in the comments |
