Nicholas Hoult To Play Jack The Giant Killer For Bryan Singer![]()
It was slightly odd when it was announced yesterday that Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer had added the first three actors to its cast, and none of them were the lead. Sure, the main villain (who will be played by Stanley Tucci) and the leader of the giants (who will be played by Bill Nighy and John Kassir) and undoubtedly important, but they also aren't the roles we've been hearing talk about for months. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long for the answer to the big question.
Deadline reports that British actor Nicholas Hoult will be the one to play Jack in Bryan Singer's fairy tale adaptation. Based on a script written by Christopher McQuarrie, Jack in this story is a farmer who is forced to lead an expedition to rescue a princess from giants. Previously starring in films like About A Boy and the UK television series Skins, Hoult broke out when he played in the 2009 drama A Single Man and is expected to see his star rise when he plays Hank McCoy/Beast in this summer's X-Men: First Class (which Singer produced). Hoult also has a role in George Miller's Mad Max, which isn't scheduled to go into production until next year. Hoult is a very talented young actor and it will be interesting to see what he's able to do with his first starring role, particularly when it's in a movie this size. Singer's decision to cast him almost undoubtedly comes from being impressed by what he's seen Hoult do in X-Men. What do you think of Nicholas Hoult being the Jack The Giant Killer? |
