Listen here, young ones. Back when I was in high school, the movies aimed at teenagers all starred Freddie Prinze, Jr. or Jennifer Love Hewitt. And they were dumb, believe you me. Not only did they not resemble anything real teenagers would ever do, or even like to do, they were packed with gimmicks like serial killers and bets about who to take to the prom. Yes, there was that one good one with Heath Ledger, but that was all we had.
Now you kids don't know what you've got, with your Juno and The Wackness and those movies by that Apatow fella. And there's going to be another teen movie coming out this fall that looks legitimately great, even though you younguns probably won't appreciate it. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist stars Michael Cera, who I would have probably had an eye for in my day, and Kat Dennings, who even a fogey like me can acknowledge is cooler than I will ever be. And based on this new teaser poster for the movie, discovered by the whippersnappers at MTV Movies, they make a cute-- and totally hip-- couple. Isn't "hip" a word you guys still use?
The movie comes out on October 3, which will give you kids plenty of time to explain to me the concept of an "infinite playlist." And to tell me if Michael Cera is maybe into older women.
