Nick Nolte And Glenn Close Cast In Music-Driven Drama Always On My Mind
If you've seen a Nick Nolte movie in the last decade or so you know that he doesn't exactly have the voice of an angel. While the actor has always had a certain amount of grit in his speech, nowadays whenever he talks it sounds like his vocal chords could crush stone. I can't even imagine what it would be like to hear him sing, but now it's possible that director Chris D’Arienzo is giving him the chance. Occupant Entertainment has announced that both Nolte and Glenn Close are now attached to star in D'Arienzo's Always On My Mind, a new music-based drama.
Based on an original script written by the director, Always On My Mind tells the story of an aging rock and roll star (Nolte) who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Unable to function how he once did, the burden is placed upon his wife (Close) who not only must take care of him, but "pick up the pieces of his hard-lived rock n’ roll life." D'Arienzo last directed the comedy Barry Munday, starring Patrick Wilson and Judy Greer, but is probably best known for his work on Broadway, having written the Tony Award-nominated musical Rock of Ages (which he also happened to co-adapt into an Adam Shankman-directed movie this past summer). It's currently unknown as to when they plan to start production.
Nolte, who has been quite busy of late, will next appear in Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad as well as the action flick Parker, both of which are due out in January. Close, who earned an Oscar nomination last year for her performance in Albert Nobbs, wrapped the fifth season of the FX series Damages this year and is attached to star in Azazel Jacobs' The Grace That Keeps This World, which co-stars James Franco and Brit Marling and is still in pre-production.
