If you’ve been wondering why there aren’t more movies about commando house pets, Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have heard your plea. Bruckheimer will produce the absolutely terrible sounding but possibly fantastic movie G-Force about, get this, ultra-intelligent animal commandos who try to keep a madman from taking over the world. Like James Bond, only with guinea pigs and hamsters.
The movie will be a mix of live-action and CG animation with the animals hopefully being the CG part. Some big timers have joined on board to voice the animals, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Nicolas Cage will voice a mole, Steve Buscemi lends his pipes to a hamster, and Tracy Morgan will be a guinea pig. There will also be several human type people involved including Bill Nighy, Will Arnett, Kelli Garner, Zach Galifianakis, Gabriel Casseus, and Jack Conley. If you’re wondering who the hell Zach Galifianakis is, you’re not alone.
This all sounds like a pile of crap on a shingle, but Bruckheimer knows family action entertainment. The script was written by The Wibberleys, who also banged out National Treasure. The first time director is Hoyt Yeatman, who has an Oscar as a visual effects supervisor for The Abyss and most recently worked on Underdog. Bruckheimer says Yeatman came up the story with his son. Hopefully this whole project, which has already started filming, will come out better than the other father and son make up a story movie, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
