Nicole Kidman Tops List Of Overpaid Stars![]()
It's rare that we get a movie story from Forbes.com, but the financial geniuses over there have decided to turn their money-minded brains to Hollywood, so there ya go. Using an incredibly complicated algorithm that factors in a movie's revenues both internationally in theaters and on DVD, plus the actor's salary divided but some figure, they've figured out the 10 most overpaid celebrities in Hollywood.
Poor Nicole Kidman, who was somehow single-handedly blamed for the failure of last summer's The Invasion despite the fact that the entire movie was terrible, tops the list. That movie actually lost $2.68 for every dollar Kidman was paid, which easily puts her on the list's top spot. Joining her in the top five are ex-husband Tom Cruise, thanks to flops like Lions for Lambs, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez and, oddly enough, Jennifer Garner. Turns out that, even though Garner doesn't demand that much money, her movies still fail to make enough to make her a worthwhile investment. As the article itself explains, it's fairly easy to pull yourself out of the dumps of this list-- Russell Crowe was one of the worst values last year, but is now one of the best, thanks largely to the success of American Gangster. So much like fame and beauty, bankability is a fickle thing in Hollywood. Better luck next year, everyone. |
