When you're the one man who can save the world from a future that is dominated by robots, you probably don't need to do anything else to seek out fame. But since television isn't real life, and actor Thomas Dekker isn't actually John Connor, he's taking a role in what could either be the world's most inspired remake, or a huge stinking ball of cheese. I'm talking, of course, about Fame, the 1980 movie that spawned a TV show and an insanely catchy theme song, and is now coming back to haunt this century.

Dekker, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is taking the lead role of Marco, a "working-class kid" who attends the New York high school for the arts with the dream of becoming an actor. He may be joined by a bunch of unknowns, which seems much more in the spirit of a movie about people going after the dreams. Dekker apparently has some singing chops that fighting evil robots doesn't give him a chance to demonstrate; get him to prove his jazz hands dexterity, and he'll be a shoo-in.
