MOVIE NEWS
No Hostel 3![]()
Hollywood has a long history of tarnishing great films with slightly worse sequels and horrid, ill-advised third movies. Just take this summer for example. Cinema goers are being bombarded with Shrek The Third, Spider-Man 3, The Bourne Ultimatum, and a third Pirates Of The Caribbean. While Matt Damon’s third is yet to be released, the general consensus on the other three has been disappointment. This exploitation of lovable characters has to stop somewhere, and Eli Roth is ready to stand up and fight the system.
According to MTV, the Hostel director has already announced that the second film will be the last of his torture-porn franchise. Citing critical failures like Beyond the Thunderdome and Halloween 3, Eli Roth will move on to other projects like the wildly inventive Trailer Trash and his adaptation of Stephen King’s “Cell.” I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t be happier with this news. Hollywood has a long history of milking ideas for all they’re worth, and it’s about time directors began saying no to money-grubbing studios. Hostel: Part 2 will hit theatres on June 8th. I don’t really think this movie will have any problem making money; however, I do encourage you to go support it. Eli Roth is a talented director, and judging by today’s news, he’s one of the best friends movie audiences will ever have. |
