No Plans For A Scott Pilgrim Sequel, Says Michael Cera![]()
I'm not sure why anyone would be expecting a sequel to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, given that Edgar Wright's film is based on the entire series of Bryan O'Malley's graphic novels, including the yet-to-be-published sixth one. But then again, 300 is based on a graphic novel in which every character dies at the end, and Frank Miller is writing a prequel with the intention of turning it into a movie, so anything is possible.
When interviewing Michael Cera for the upcoming Youth in Revolt, Collider did their due diligence and asked him what he'd heard about a potential Scott Pilgrim sequel (Cera stars, of course, as the titular main character). And he said pretty much what we all could have expected-- he's not signed on for any sequels, and he hasn't heard anyone mention one. Honestly, it doesn't seem in anyone's best interest to make a sequel for this, so I'm almost happier to hear this news. If the movie turns out to be amazing-- which is likely, with Wright behind the camera-- we may wind up begging for a sequel after all, but wouldn't it be better as just one of those one-off magical events? |
