Sometimes reporters get a little bit ahead of themselves. A few days ago MTV.com reported that Joe Johnston is now definitely not directing long gestating Jurassic Park 4. The internet as a whole immediately took this to mean that Steven Spielberg will do it, since way back in mid-2006 there was as rumor going around that Spielberg would direct if Johnston didn’t do it. We reported that here.
One problem though folks. Six days after that rumor started circulating Spielberg’s representatives debunked it, and let everyone know that Steven will not be directing the fourth big dino movie.
So Joe Johnston is out. Fine. But Spielberg is not in. He’s currently working on that mythical fourth Indiana Jones movie, and when he’s done, unless he’s changes his tune since last he issued a statement on the subject, his next task will not involve a tyrannosaurus.
