Noah Huntley To Play King Magnus In Snow White And The Huntsman
The royal family of Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman has been only partially completed for some time. Kristen Stewart will be playing the titular princess, Charlize Theron has been attached for months as the Evil Queen, and it was reported back in May that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides star Sam Claflin would be playing a prince. So what about Stewart and Claflin's father and Theron's husband? According to producer Palak Patel, they've found their man in Noah Huntley.
Announced via Twitter, the British actor will be taking a step into the fairy tale world as King Magnus in Snow White and the Huntsman. The medieval setting will not be a first for the actor, who played the Head Knight in David Gordon Green's Your Highness, released earlier this year. Directed by Rupert Sanders, the film is a twist on the classic Grimm fairy tale written by Hossein Amini, Evan Daugherty, and Evan Spiliotopoulos. The story begins with the queen ordering the Huntsman to take Snow White into the woods to murder her, but he has a change of heart and instead decides to train her so that she can both protect herself and take vengeance against the matriarch. The film is outfitted with an incredible supporting cast, including Nick Frost, Toby Jones, Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Bob Hoskins, Eddie Marsan, and Eddie Izzard, all of whom are set to play the seven dwarfs.
While you may not know who Noah Huntley is by name, if you've seen 28 Days Later then you probably remember him vividly. He played Mark, Selina's first partner who delivers the incredible story about his family's attempt to leave London and trampling over people as the infected stormed in. I can't imagine that Huntley's part is going to be very big in this new film - how many of you even remembered that there was a king in Snow White? - but with Huntley in the role one has to imagine that he'll make it count.
