Nolan Hasn't Committed To Batman 3![]()
With The Dark Knight out on DVD for the first time tomorrow, director Christopher Nolan has been out talking about the Batman. When he spoke to USA Today, he also dropped tidbits about the further future of his Batman franchise. In a nutshell, he’s not in a rush to do another one.
He’s jotted down some notes and done some rough outlines for Batman 3, but hasn’t found anything to commit to. But he’s more concerned with getting it right than getting another one done. He says, “I wouldn't want to do one if it weren't going to be as good as the first or second. That's not respectful to the fans.” He wants to keep Batman viable by not going Batman & Robin again. “The worst thing you could do now that you've gotten the plane back in the air is mess up the landing,” Nolan contends. This is all great news, assuming a good Batman is more important to you than a soon Batman. The only worry here is that even if Nolan isn’t in a hurry, Warner Bros. most definitely is. They’re desperate to get another Batman done as fast as possible, and I can’t help but worry that if Nolan takes too long they may ditch him and go with someone else, even if it does mean shoving out an inferior product. |
