Nearly 10 years into a world dominated by Shrek, it's hard to come up with a way to riff on fairy tales with even a hint of originality. By by God if a Norwegian hasn't figured out how to do it. Tommy Wirkola, who cowrote and directed the Nazi zombie movie Dead Snow, has hired writer Dante Harper to tackle Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. And yes, it is as awesome as you're thinking.

According to THR, the movie takes place 15 years after the events inside the witch's house, and the brother-sister duo are motivated by their experience to become witch bounty hunters. Even better, the Gary Sanchez team that includes Adam McKay and Will Ferrell will be producing the horror comedy, which is obviously being compared to Shaun of the Dead. I firmly believe that there is only room for one Shaun of the Dead-esque movie in the world (except maybe Zombieland), but I'm willing to see where this goes regardless.
