Nottingham Plot Explained... Sorta![]()
MTV's movie blog is claiming they're setting the record straight on exactly who Russell Crowe will be playing in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood re-imagining, and why Scott once claimed Crowe would be playing both Robin Hood and his arch-nemesis, the Sheriff of Nottingham. But I'm betting I'm not the only one confused after reading what producer Brian Grazer told them.
First of all SPOILER WARNING. Yes, Nottingham is a movie that hasn't even been made yet, but all the same. OK, ready? Grazer said, "The two role confusion is that what Robin Hood does is he sees Nottingham in battle very early in the movie and Nottingham dies. And Robin Hood takes over the identity of Nottingham. Thats how it plays out.” Ummm.... huh? Granted, most of my knowledge of Robin Hood comes from the Disney version that starred a fox, but I'm not really seeing how this can play it. Are they saying that the Sheriff of Nottingham, as we knew him in the legends, was really just Robin Hood in disguise? And Russell Crowe is just that crafty? This may all just be an elaborate series of double-crosses and confusion to make us more interested in the movie-- the Body of Lies of publicity, you might say. And hey, it's working. Next they'll be telling us it's actually a drama about a cross-dressing Robin Hood. Don't say I didn't warn you. |
