Nymphomaniac Volume I Gets A Sex-Filled Yet Safe For Work New Trailer
This Friday, husbands and wives and boyfriends and girlfriends around the world will exchange cards, chocolates, presents and other affections to each other in honor of Valentine's Day, but director Lars von Trier seems to be celebrating the holiday in his own way. Yahoo! has just released the latest trailer for his new movie Nymphomaniac: Volume I, and while the clips shown are actually remarkably safe for work, it's still a much different perspective on "love" than what most people will be thinking about tomorrow.
Of course, a green band trailer for this film really isn't going to give you a true sense of how things play out. For that I will instead point your attention towards the six previously released clips that debuted all throughout the second half of last year:
What's even stranger about the appearance of this trailer is that we've actually already seen the first previews for its sequel, Nymphomaniac Volume II. The first half of von Trier's sex-filled odyssey will be getting a limited release in US theaters starting March 21st, while part two will be out just a few weeks later on April 4th.
Based on an original screenplay by the director, the new film tells the story of Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg), a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac. After being rescued by a stranger from a vicious beating, she begins to tell the story of her sexual evolution, from her first time with a man to her many, many experiences later. The controversial subject matter drew the film a very talented supporting cast, featuring Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, and Udo Kier.
