Old Men Get New Banners![]()
The release date for No Country For Old Men is approaching so it must be time to increase the promotional campaign for the movie. With a cast that includes Javier Bardem and Tommy Lee Jones, it would be easy to go for the “character poster” approach, showcasing the talent. Instead it looks like Miramax is following a new trend: less focus on the talent involved and more mysterious posters with catchphrases. It worked for 3:10 to Yuma, so why not the Coen brothers endeavor?
Variety blog Thompson on Hollywood has come across three banners that show the lower half of characters carrying assorted firearms with slogans like “There Are No Clean Getaways,” “There Are No Laws Left,” and “You Can’t Stop What’s Coming.” It’s an ad campaign that follows the intimidating image of Javier Bardem wielding a shotgun and the existing “floating head” poster of Bardem. I think I like the banners better. Take a look at a small version of one of the banners below. Click over to Thompson on Hollywood for all three banners. |
