Oliver Stone's Savages Will Maneuver Its Way On To Blu-ray In November

Oliver’s Stone’s trippy thrill ride, Savages, about two young men taking on a drug cartel after the cartel forces its hand, is coming to Blu-ray and DVD soon. The graphic film had a decent run in theaters beginning in July, which was pretty recent, so we still have a few more months before we will be able to purchase. Savages will be officially available on Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand on November 13.

The film is based on a book with the same name by Don Winslow, but while the book was released to acclaim, the film was released to mixed reviews. This is kind of a shame for lead actor Taylor Kitsch, who really needed a movie to do well after Battleship and John Carter didn’t make a clear profit. Still, Kitsch and Ryan Reynold’s better half, Blake Lively, were both pretty amped up and fun to watch during the flick. If you’re a fan of Stone’s work, Savages should be a desirable enough flick to add to the collection.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment is putting together the Blu-ray and DVD sets, and fans who do opt for the Blu-ray combo pack will receive a digital copy, as well as the BD Live and Ultraviolet stuff that now comes naturally with most Universal sets. Both Blu-ray and DVD copies will come with a few bonus features, but if you are buying for deleted scenes, you’ll have to go with the Blu-ray. Neither set is particularly expensive (the Blu-ray runs $34.98 and the DVD is $29.98), and both are already on pre-order on Amazon for an even fairer price. If you liked the flick, it definitely won’t be a strain on the budget to purchase the film.
