Optimus Prime Recruits A Dinosaur Army In New Transformers 4 Trailer
"We need a new army."
So the term "Extinction" in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction has dual meaning. First, it obviously refers to the possible extinction of the human race, if Mark Wahlberg and his newfound Autobot pals can’t prevent a fresh wave of Decepticon baddies from destroying our planet and everyone on it. BUT, it also refers to the "extinct" population of dinosaur Transformers – or Dinobots – who, by the end of this new clip, have been recruited into the ongoing war between Optimus Prime and his sworn enemies.
Which gives us the outstanding opportunity to see better, more glorious shots of Prime riding on the back of a rampaging Dinobot.
The trailers for Michael Bay’s latest Transformers sequel have focused on the innocent humans, and how they will be pulled into the next great battle between man and machine. We’ve seen that sequence of grease monkey Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) stumbling on Optimus Prime, only to be met by shadowy government resistance. Today’s full(er) trailer goes deeper into the political motivation to uncover what alien metals make the Transformers tick… while also setting up scene after scene of rampaging, metal-on-metal violence. There are also a handful of delightfully strange Bay-isms sprinkled through the new trailer. Like this guy, who gets hit in the face by the tire of a flying truck. Because "Summer Blockbuster!"
The ramp up for Transformers: Age of Extinction is underway, and this trailer likely is the last full blast of footage that we’ll see before the movie opens (though you can expect a number of smaller TV spots, hopefully all focused on CADE YEAGER!). In addition to the trailer, Paramount unveiled a new Transformers: Age of Extinction poster:
And the studio launched a new app that allows you to "Choose a Side," complete missions to unlock film-related goodies, and prepare for the opening of the movie. Click here to download the app on either iTunes or Google Play.
Transformers: Age of Extinction is set to lock down movie theaters over the July 4 weekend, getting a head start by opening everywhere on June 27, 2014.
