Orci And Kurtzman Won't Write Transformers 3![]()
Michael Bay gets all the credit for making the Transformers a hit franchise (well, so far), but who knows-- maybe the credit goes to screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who wrote the first two films as well as the upcoming Star Trek, Mission Impossible III and plenty of TV work.
It looks like we'll get a chance to find out. Talking on the forums at DonMurphy.net, and helpfully summarized by Film School Rejects, Orci announced that he and Kurtzman probably won't be writing the planned third Transformers film. "Time for fresh blood! The main reason we would move on is because we risk getting stale and comfortable. If you only sing one song for too long, you miss the opportunity to sing new songs. We’ll see.” Granted, Orci and Kurtzman have probably set up a pretty strong framework in which another screenwriter could work pretty well. But the third movie in a series can be so bad anyway, with too many villains or action set pieces or whatever, that Transformers 3 might need their expertise more than ever. Are you worried that Orci and Kurtzman will leave the franchise hanging? Or would you rather see them move on to something new? |
