Order Of The Phoenix Flies Early Harry Potter has decided to grow up earlier. His next film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the one where all the potterphiles tell me the franchise matures and gets dark (though really, I think they’ve told me that before every movie), has shifted release dates… slightly. Warner Brothers has moved Phoenix from lucky Friday the 13th to happy hump day Wednesday, July the 11th.

Why the move? Well it could be that someone over at Warne Brothers is superstitious, but it’s probably because they don’t really have any competition on the weekend of the 13th and so want to start taking your money a little earlier, in the hope that they’ll get more of it. Of course that moves them closer to Transformers, which opens the weekend before, but nobody really goes to the movies on weekdays anyway, do they?

The week after Potter opens there’s not much competition either, with a mixed bag of Hairspray, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Sunshine hitting theaters. A couple of those might be nice movies, but they’re hardly worthy competition for a serious summer blockbuster like Potter. Harry is going to make a lot of money, it really doesn’t matter where they put him.
