Orlando's Midnight Moviegoers Get An After-Hours Visit To The Harry Potter Theme Park image
I didn't have it in me to watch the two-hour, ten-minute Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at a midnight screening-- even the caffeine-fueled energy of a midnight crowd and the inherent drama of the Battle of Hogwarts wouldn't have been able to keep me awake. But if you'd offer me two hours to roam free at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park afterwards? OK, I probably could have worked it out in that case.

Orlando-based wizard fans who attended one particular midnight screening got the chance to do exactly that-- representatives from the theme park showed up immediately after the screening to whisk them away to the park, where from 3 to 5 a.m. they had the run of the place. Given reports of enormous crowds at all the attractions, which range from Ollivander's Wand Shop to a roller coaster ride inside Hogwarts Castle, it sounds pretty much like paradise-- exhausted, exhausted paradise. In the press release the park reps included the photo you see above, and yes, those are grown men running excitedly into a theme park dedicated to a series of books written for children. Harry Potter does strange things to us all, what can I tell you. You can also watch some video of the announcement below. Yes, it's a PR message, but it's kinda heartwarming.

If you're sick of reading about Harry Potter this week-- and if you've been reading this site, you might be; I'm sorry, there's just nothing else out there-- get some relief in knowing that this is pretty much as bad as it's going to get. Yes, the books and movies and the theme park will go on to make millions and millions of dollars, and it'll probably be a while before you stop seeing kids dress as Harry on Halloween, but this is the one last big marketing push for a franchise that's earned it. Get through this weekend, and the Boy Who Lived will go on with his life, and so can you.
