BEST ACTOR
I don't usually let performances nobody has seen sneak into Likely Contender, but Daniel Day-Lewis is the giant, towering exception in pretty much every awards season, and never more than this year. If Lincoln turns out to have the goods the category might be over… but if Joaquin Phoenix can hang in there, especially with the Weinstein Company behind him, he could make for one of the most fascinating success stories in recent memory. But there are also some huge potential performances on the horizon, from the giant Les Miserables to whatever Zemeckis and Washington have in store for us in Flight.
