I’ve always thought that the best way to help someone who has attempted suicide is to star them in a major motion picture with millions of dollars at stake and all those related pressures. It’s a recipe for success where mental health is concerned. Owen Wilson tried to do the big check-out last summer and dropped out of Tropic Thunder, which was already filming. He’s back, though, and will soon begin shooting his next movie.
HR says filming on Marley & Me will begin on March 10. As Josh noted back in August, Wilson will star in the dog-centric movie with Jennifer Aniston. The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel will be putting Wilson through his paces; hopefully with a few stress release breaks built in.
If you’ve read the book Marley & Me is based on you either love Oprah or have a dog. It is a bestseller about a couple who adopt a dog before having kids. The dog is sooooooooooo cwazy with the drooling and the eating things that they want to tear their hear out. Of course, he also teaches them a little something. Just writing this is teaching me not to throw-up at precious dog stories. Good luck to Owen and his mental health.

I'm sure Wilson will have a "minder" to keep him clean while filming (it wouldn't be the first time). You have a good point about his mental health, though ... Women of Miami, watch out. Owen likes to be kept distracted from his dark thoughts and if the studios are watching his booze/drug intake carefully in order to protect their investment, then he'll find another way to deal with his depression. I predict quite a few stories about a different woman on his arm (and other places ... cough, cough) each night he's there. As far as the movie, it sounds too cute-sy by half for me, although it will probably be a big hit... People love dogs and comeback kids... BTW - I have to know - is the title of this post ("back on the horse") a subtle reference to Owen's "troubles"? (That was the first thing that came to mind when I read it!)
