From AICN, comes the news of Peter Jackson’s next project after King Kong wraps up later this year. Reportedly, Jackson and collaborator Philippa Boyens confirm in an interview with the Lord of the Rings Fan Club Magazine that The Lovely Bones will be their next project. Two quotes from the magazine show that both Jackson and Boyens reiterate their plans following King Kong.

The Lovely Bones is Alice Sebold’s novel about a 14 year old girl who was raped and murdered. Not letting death stop her, the young girl follows (haunts?) her family and her killer. With King Kong coming to theatres in December 2005, it’s reasonable to think that Jackson could start production of Bones in early 2006. No word yet on which studio would release it.
