Paranormal Activity 4 To Feature Tease Of Latino-Themed Spin-Off?
Back in April we learned that Paranormal Activity producers Jason Blum and Oren Peli were teaming up with Paranormal Activity sequel writer Christopher Landon to create a Latino-themed version of the horror sensation that would serve as a "cousin" to the other movies. Well, apparently we may be getting our first taste of that project this month.
According to Bloody Disgusting, the latest entry in the franchise, Paranormal Activity 4, will have a tease of the new movie as a post-credits sequence (similar to what Marvel Studios in their Phase One titles). Why it's unclear exactly what fans will be seeing, the site describes it as a "short clip teasing the 2013 release of the studio’s unnamed Latino Paranormal Activity spinoff." This news has not been verified by Paramount Pictures, which distributes the Paranormal Activity movies.
According to our previous report about the new movie, it will feature an English speaking Latino cast and will "tackle Catholic-based paranormal mythology." In addition to writing the last three Paranormal Activity movies, Landon's previous credits include the Shia LaBeouf thriller Disturbia, Blood and Chocolate, and Burning Palms (which he also directed).
Paranormal Activity 4 is being directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Paranormal Activity 3, Catfish) and centers on a new heroine in the franchise, Alice (played by Kathryn Newton). The film picks up five years after the events of the second film and follows a family who just got a mysterious new neighbor: Katie (Katie Featherston). The movie will be in theaters on October 19th, and learn more about it head over to our Blend Film Database.
