Patric, Dekker Join My Sister's Keeper![]()
My Sister’s Keeper sounds like it could be the most heartbreaking chick flick in the history of the world. It’s based on a bestselling weepy novel, and it’s about two sisters, one who has cancer and one who was born solely to be a genetic match for the older sister. Plus the younger sister sues her parents for legal emancipation. Are your eyes welling up already? Do you even have a heart?
Now The Hollywood Reporter tells us that two more actors are joining in on the tears, Jason Patric and Thomas Dekker. Patric, who I last remember from Speed 2: Cruise Control like forever ago, will play the father of the two girls, who are played by Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin (you probably remember that they replaced the Fanning sisters a while ago). Patric will play the firefighter husband of Cameron Diaz’s character, who is a lawyer defending herself in the emancipation suit from her daughter. Got all that? Dekker, currently on TV’s The Sarah Connor Chronicles, will play Vassilieva’s characters boyfriend, who is also a cancer survivors. Dekker is 20 and Vassilieva is 15—ew!—but other than that he seems like a good fit for the role. The production team behind this movie has done a pretty good job of not letting the departure of the Fanning twins bring them down. Now that they’ve got a full cast they can finally begin shooting, and let Vassilieva and Breslin prove they’re just as good as those Fannings. |
