Patrick Lussier And Todd Farmer Put Behind The Hellraiser Remake![]()
Fans of Clive Barker's cult horror film Hellraiser were mortified to learn on Monday that not only had Christian E. Christiansen had been hired to direct a remake, but that the new film would be directed more towards teens. The idea of a PG-13 sado-masochistic hell didn't seem to sit well with them for some reason. Fortunately, that's not going to be the way things shake out.
STYD is reporting (and Bloody Disgusting confirms) that it will not be Christiansen who directs the remake, but instead Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the writer/director pair behind My Bloody Valentine 3D and the upcoming Drive Angry 3D. And that whole "PG-13" nonsense? Out the window. If this film is going to be made, it's going to be made right. While the team of Lussier and Farmer is without a doubt an improvement over Christiansen, I still don't understand why Hellraiser needs to be remade. It's not as though Barker's original has aged badly. On the contrary, it's still looked at by many as a modern-horror classic. I'm glad that they are at least trying to do it right, but they really shouldn't be doing it at all. |
