When he caught Big Fan at this year's Sundance, Josh wrote that Patton Oswalt "does something pretty amazing here, creating a character that is all at once comedic, heartbreaking, and supremely insightful." Now we all have a chance to see what the fuss is about; Big Fan will be released by First Independent Pictures sometime this summer or fall.

OK, maybe all of us won't get to see it-- First Independent is a pretty small distributor, so the release might be limited to the big cities. But still, it's the directing debut of The Wrestler director Robert Siegel, so there's a decent change that there will be a lot of interest in this one. In the press release announcing the distribution deal, Siegel said "I’m so psyched—and relieved—to have Big Fan in First Independent’s hands. Gary just gets it. He believes in this movie. And he knows exactly what to do with it to bring it audiences.”
