Just because Penelope Cruz is now an Oscar winner and America's Spanish sweetheart, that doesn't mean she'll be sticking around stateside to keep earning our affections. She's currently lining up her next project with Italian director Sergio Castellitto, a drama that will find her as a single mom returning with her teenage son to Sarajevo, the city where her husband died.
Variety reports that Cruz is in talks for the lead role in Venuto al mondo, which means "into the world" in Italian. Meanwhile Castellitto is preparing to direct and is adapting the screenplay, based on the novel by his wife Margaret Mazzantini.
